4:00 pm - 6:00 pm ­“Breaking In” - Just how do you get started in the film industry? -
Join screenwriters, actors, casting agents, producers, and technical experts for a discussion of strategies for getting started in the movies.
Panel:  Tonya Holly, writer, producer, and director; Natalie Canerday, actor (Sling Blade, October Sky, When I Find the Ocean); Danny Vinson, actor (Walk the Line, When I Find the Ocean), Gena Ellis, screenwriter; Teddy Champion, producer.
Moderator:  Jess Daily, Chief Projectionist for the UCLA Archives at the James Bridges Theater, School of Theater, Film, Television, and Digital Media Chief

6:30 pm - 8:00 pm “Sweet Home Alabama: Filmmaking from Mobile to Muscle Shoals” -
Local officials, filmmakers, and state film office representatives will attend this reception and screening of Alabama film entries to celebrate filmmaking in our state.  State Representative Tammy Irons will open this event.

10:00 am - 12:00 noon “Why Film in the Tri-States?”
- Representatives from Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi state and city film commissions will discuss resources, benefits, and incentives for filming in the tri-state region.

10:00 am – 1:00 pm “Children’s Filmmaking Workshop” - It’s never too early to teach next year’s prize filmmakers the basics of filmmaking.  This workshop will be taught by Huntsville based Don Tingle, Director of the North Alabama Film Co-op summer “MovieMakers, Filmmaking Workshop for Kids.”  Our three hour seminar style workshop will summarize the basics of movie making at an age appropriate level.  The emphasis of the workshop is on learning practical skills, easy techniques and most importantly, team work.  The seminar will include demonstrations of techniques and equipment.  Parents are encouraged to participate with younger children.

11:30 am - 1:00 pm "George Lindsey UNA Film Festival 10th Annual Anniversary Lunch" - luncheon honoring George Lindsey and Ernest Borgnine in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the festival.
Ballroom B, GUC, UNA campus
 ("meet & greet" luncheon for filmmakers and invited guests)  Sponsored by Bud and Lois Ellison and the University of North Alabama

 
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm “Screenwriting workshop” Have an Idea for a Movie?
 - Screenwriter, novelist, and UNA alum Chris Halvorson will conduct an open workshop focusing on the basics of screenwriting, including developing an outline, approaching a story through characters, arcs, and the three act breakdown.  Halvorson has recently sold movie rights for his novel, The Santa Suit. 
This workshop is sponsored by UNA’s Department of English and The UNA Writers’ Series.

2:00 pm - 4:30 pm “Animation Workshop for Children”
- Steve Richerson of Concrete Dream Pictures will teach a hands-on stopmotion workshop for young people using Boinx Istopmotion software.  Istopmotion is a simple and inexpensive Macintosh based software used to create astonishing works of animation (aka Claymation) and time lapse recording.  Before the workshop begins, there will be a visit by special guests who have starred in famous animated films.  *GEORGE LINDSEY AND ERNEST BORGNINE ARE SCHEDULED TO APPEAR.

3:30 pm - 5:30 pm “Acting for Film Workshop”
- Actors David “Shark” Fralick (When I Find the Ocean, “The Young and the Restless”), Natalie Canerday (Sling Blade, October Sky, When I Find the Ocean), Danny Vinson (Walk the Line, When I Find the Ocean), and Will Stutts (George Washington II: The Forging of a Nation) will introduce participants to basics of screen acting.

7:00 pm - 8:30 pm “From Marty and McHale to Mermaidman: An Evening With Ernest Borgnine” - Longtime festival friend Ernest Borgnine discusses his sixty-year screen career, from his Academy Award-winning role as the lovelorn butcher in Marty and his long-running TV sitcom McHale’s Navy to his roles in the classic films From Here to Eternity, Bad Day at Black Rock, The Vikings, The Flight of the Phoenix, The Dirty Dozen, The Wild Bunch, Willard, The Poseidon Adventure, The Devil’s Rain, and Escape from New York and his colorful contributions to the pop-culture favorites The Simpsons, Spongebob Squarepants, and David Letterman’s Late Show Top 10. The evening will include clips from Mr. Borgnine’s versatile career, plus questions and answers with the audience.

FEATURING "Paul Thorn" originally from Tupelo, Mississippi. 
Musically, Thorn takes his rootsy style of gospel infused rock to a more refined place. Trading in the rough-around-the-edges style of MISSION TEMPLE FIREWORKS STAND, for a slicked-back, more R&B flavor that's topped with the sweet, sweet sound of chicks and horns.  Opening for Thorn will be up-and-coming artists Christian Turner and Wesley Butler from the Shoals area.
